After a restless night of sleep. Walking through areas where I had only ever taken the train. Descending into a station and reemerging at your stop creates geographic discontinuity I always find disorienting. Sure, I know where I am, but I lose my sense of space.
It felt like I wasn’t supposed to be walking around as I approached the airport, so took the shuttle the last mile. Seemed like a big distance in my head — walk to JFK? — but it was barely anything.
